At least they have an excuse

December 2, 2006
Following on from the tale of the wandering ambulance.

The Beeb reports that ‘Hundreds of Motown fans were left disappointed after a sat-nav sends a tribute band 140 miles away from the concert venue.

Around 300 fans – many who had dressed up in 1960’s outfits – had gone to see Vicount Oliver’s Legendary Four Tops play at Cheltenham Town Hall.

But the US band had been driven to the other side of the country, thanks to their satellite navigation equipment.

It had been set for Chelmsford, Essex, instead of the Gloucestershire town.

Fans were told the night had been cancelled “due to unforeseen circumstances”.

Tour manager Alan Frazer said: “Whoever tapped the place into the sat-nav got it wrong.

“They don’t know British geography very well because they’re American.”‘

How many other mistakes can be justified on the basis of being American?

I think its more a case of being geographically and technology “challenged” than being American.

Oh, and any negative references to “Dubya” are greatly appreciated.
